About Me

WHO AM I?

After completing a Bachelors of Science in Biology at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, I completed a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine at the Institute for Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Hawaii. I currently hold a certification as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), having passed all four areas of competency required for this certification. I am a licensed acupuncturist in Kentucky.

WHAT IS BREATH OF LIFE ACUPUNCTURE & WELLNESS?

Breath of Life Acupuncture & Wellness is a mobile acupuncture clinic. This means I come to your residence to treat you on your terms. Bookings can normally be made from 24 hours to 30 days in advance, which allows you to find the time and days that work for you.

WHAT DO I OFFER?

Services that I offer include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medical therapies, electrical stimulation of acupuncture points, cupping, gua sha, acupressure/trigger point therapy, and wellness counseling. My rate per visit is one flat fee of $60, and with the exception of herbal therapy, all services are included in this fee.

WHY ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is an affordable, effective, non-invasive treatment for many conditions. It can be used either in addition to Western Medicine, or as an alternative for those that have not found success with Western medical treatments.

Although my interests lie in sports medicine and women’s health, acupuncture can be used to treat a wide variety of non-life threatening disorders such as the addiction, allergies, anxiety, back pain, common cold, depression, gastrointestinal issues, headache, heartburn, hypertension, insomnia, low energy, menopause symptoms, PMS, tinnitus, and urinary incontinence, to name a few.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Treatment commonly consists of the use of acupuncture needles and herbal medicine, with some other supporting modalities. The needles are all sterile single use needles with a diameter similar to a strand of hair. Needles may be inserted any where from ¼ of an inch to 3 inches into the body, depending on the area, and removed after 20 to 30 minutes. I supply my own treatment table and clean sheets for your comfort.

All herbal therapies that I currently offer consist of premixed powders that are added to hot water to drink as a tea. While they are not included in the flat rate, they are very important for the treatment of some conditions, sometimes even more so than needles.

Additional modalities such as cupping, electrical stimulation, acupressure/trigger point therapy, gua sha, and bleeding are included in the flat fee and performed on an as needed basis with the patient’s consent.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT RESULTS?

A variety of factors can influence how swiftly you will see results. These factors include the severity of symptoms, the length of time the problem has been present, general health and age of the patient, and patient compliance. With this in mind, it may take an average of 5 to 6 treatments to have good results. However, chronic issues may take up to 8 to 10 treatments before significant progress is seen. Treatments are usually scheduled once or twice a week for maximum therapeutic benefit.

However, this is not always the case and some people may see relief after 3 or fewer treatments. I understand that not everyone has the time, money and ability to commit to a long-term treatment plan. I will do my best to work with your schedule and budget to find a plan that works best for you.

WHERE CAN I FIND YOU?

I currently travel between the Oak Grove/Hopkinsville and the Louisville Metro areas, offering traditional Chinese medical services to both areas depending on my current location. Check my booking page to see when appointments are offered in either area. If there are no bookings offered in your area on a specific week, call me to see if we can work something out. I look forward to helping you.
